My name’s Chase Magus and I write fiction. I write the kinds of things I want to read that I feel are in short supply today: pulse-pounding action, layered mysteries, edge-of-your-seat stunts, and impressive heroics for pure-hearted reasons. I also like to write things that are different: a twist on an old perspective and new ways of combining familiar things.
You won’t find any political messaging or moral grandstanding in my fiction, either. Activists, please check that stuff at the door!
I’m well-read and well-traveled, having imbibed the works of Plutarch, Gibbon, Aristotle, Confucius, Buddha, Tacitus, and many others, as well as lived and traveled across much of the U.S., Europe, and Asia. I’ve shared meals and adventures with friends from every continent. I’ve had my fair share of brushes with death (and learned to be more cautious). Since leaving the corporate world decades ago, I have walked my own path.
I feel my experiences give me a breadth and depth to draw from that lets me pour the degree of life into my writing I want it to have. I can see the difference between the fiction I’m publishing now and the fiction I wrote a decade ago, two decades ago, or three (I wrote my first novel at age 10) quite clearly. (Fortunately, none of those early works remain.) I’ve been a verbal storyteller just as long.
I hope the fun I’ve had coming up with the tales on these pages comes through, and that they’re just as fun for you to read as they were for me to write.
Let’s get reading!
